The Religious Society of Friends
The Friends' Meeting House, Dorchester
Welcome to the Dorchester and Weymouth Religious Society of Friends’ website - some of the key ideas about what Quakers think and do are covered here.
Starting in the UK as a Christian renewal movement 350 years ago Quakers are now found all over the world. Quakers have always been active in trying to make the earth a better place because they believe there is something of the Spirit of God in each individual human being. Together we meet in expectant silence to be open to the leading of this Spirit, so that each person may find the God of their own understanding. Consequently we have no formal creed or requirements for belief. Anyone is welcome in our Meetings for Worship. Individually and collectively many of us are involved in charity work, political action or artistic endeavour.
We hope you find the site interesting: please come along and/or Contact us if you would like further information about Quakers.
